Product Manager Job

Our client, a well established vegetable seed company leading worldwide markets with top genetics, is seeking someone to fill the position of Product Manager for Cucumbers, Pumpkins and Watermelon crops.  This position will be responsible for all issues in relationship to the assigned crop portfolio as related to crop production, inventory, global crop strategies, product testing marketing and QA.

Primary Responsibilities for the Product Manager Job

·         Manage the global product portfolio for cucumber, pumpkin and watermelon in regard to new product development, new varieties, and new seed product forms

·         Manage, with the Breeder, new varieties prior to introduction in the development product portfolio

·         Optimize turnover and margin of managed products through supply chain expectations, sales potential evaluation, and pricing

·         Manage new product introductions in accordance with the strengths and weaknesses of existing product range, market potential, and pressure from competition

·         Technical expertise for product line, providing sales with technical data needed to support optimal product performance

·         Manage the seed quantity needs for varieties under development, with the involvement of Sales Managers, for early forecasts on pre-commercial varieties

·         Analyze market data in order to evaluate the main targets

Qualifications for the Product Manager Job

·         Minimum of a BS degree in Agronomy or Agricultural Engineering / Science required

·         3 - 5 years experience in breeding, seed development, seed sales or vegetable production

·         Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

·         Ability to travel on a regular basis, domestically as well as internationally

·         Must be willing to work out of California Based Headquarters

Skills Required for the Product Manager Job

·         Knowledge of breeding, seed development, or vegetable production

·         Product management experience, ability to plan actions and analyze results

·         Requires excellent written, oral, communication and leadership skills

·         Self-motivated, with a high level of time management, creativity and organizational skill

·         Team player with a positive attitude, ability to lead as well as collaborate
